Qif ("we", "our", "the app") is a mindfulness app developed by Promote Good Inc. This privacy policy explains how Qif handles your information.

Our Core Principle

Qif is designed to work primarily on your device. We collect as little data as possible and never sell your information to anyone.

What Data Stays on Your Device

The following data is stored locally on your phone and never leaves your device:

• Your list of guarded apps
• Your pause duration and content preferences
• Your daily statistics (dhikr count, walk-away count, gate triggers)
• Your weekly usage history
• App usage time for guarded apps

This data is stored using Android's local database and shared preferences. If you uninstall Qif, this data is permanently deleted.

What Data We Collect

If you choose to provide it during setup, we collect:

• Name — used to personalize your greeting in the app. Stored in Firebase Firestore.
• Email address — stored in Firebase Firestore. We may use this to send product updates. You can request deletion at any time.

We also collect anonymous, non-identifiable event data when you interact with the gate screen:

• Whether you chose "Walk Away" or "Open App"
• The configured pause duration
• Whether the content shown was dhikr or a Quranic verse
• The package name of the guarded app
• A timestamp of the event

This data contains no personal identifiers and is used solely to understand how the app is used in aggregate, such as overall walk-away rates across all users.

Accessibility Service

Qif uses Android's Accessibility Service to detect when you open a guarded app. This is the core functionality of the app — it allows Qif to show you a dhikr or Quranic verse before you enter the app.

The Accessibility Service:

• Only monitors which app is in the foreground (package name)
• Does not read, collect, or transmit any content displayed on your screen
• Does not log your keystrokes, messages, passwords, or any personal content
• Does not access your contacts, photos, files, or any other personal data
• Only compares the foreground app against your personally selected list of guarded apps

Usage Stats Permission

Qif uses Android's Usage Stats permission to calculate how much time you spend on your guarded apps. This data is processed on your device and is displayed only to you on your dashboard. It is never transmitted to our servers.

Overlay Permission

Qif uses the "Display over other apps" permission to show the gate screen (dhikr/verse display) when you open a guarded app. This overlay only appears in response to opening a guarded app and does not monitor or interact with any other apps.

Subscriptions and Payments

Qif Premium subscriptions are processed entirely through Google Play. We do not collect, store, or have access to your payment information, credit card numbers, or billing details. All payment processing is handled by Google.

Third-Party Services

Qif uses the following third-party services:

• Firebase Firestore (Google) — for storing email addresses and anonymous event data. Firebase Privacy Policy

Data Retention and Deletion

Your local data is deleted when you uninstall the app or clear app data. To request deletion of your email and name from our servers, contact us at [email protected]. We will process deletion requests within 30 days.

Children's Privacy

Qif is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes through the app or via email if provided.
